Hi there, This resource was for anyone who was interested in learning Modern Greek, but was primarily used as a repository for classnotes for a first year Modern Greek evening class.
Although this blog site will remain here, it has now been superceeded by a a regular website www.allgreek2me.com which contains all the referance material available on this blog. Additionally all future Year 2 referance notes will only appear on the new website.

Comment on the Class & Tuesday Evenings
Hi there, first of all thanks to everyone who came along to the pub yesterday as it was an enjoyable evening with a smattering of Greek thrown in. Hope to see you all again next week.George has been asked to gather any comments and observations we have about the Year 1 course so I have suggested that people could use this post to add their views by clicking on the comment link at the bottom of the post. That way George can access all your views and pass them on with out any need for messing about with emails. So, have a think about what you'd like to say about the course (keep it clean!) and add a comment.

The content of he course was very good for beginners in the language as I felt it was pitched at the right level to give useful stuff you can actually practice while on holiday without getting to complicated early on to scare people away. Another good point was the informality of the class which meant people came not only to learn Greek but also to enjoy learning Greek. Very few adults learn a language for a qualification, so the lack of exams and the informal nature of testing our knowledge, again served to keep people coming rather than scare them off.
I am disappointed that MAES are not running Year 2 as to me it would make sense to continue on with a class that has a guarenteed attendance, than take a risk on a new Greek Year 1 course for which MAES needs to first find sudents to sign up and then retain them. In times of budget restrains this does not seem to make any sense at all.
